Take a look at the list of files, then take a look at the program directory. You can do this by running "rtpatch -list nameofpatch.rtp".

Now, what you'll want to do is print a list of all the files patched by these patches to determine exactly which directory the patch should be applied to. While you're at it, you can export a couple of things from the RTPATCH key, 200 as rtpatch.exe, and 201 as patchw32.dll. Do this for each of the next updates as well. We know this is an RTP file because it begins with the byte sequence "4B 2A" (hex), or "K*" (ASCII). Since I want English, I dealt with the file under 1033. You'll find an RTPFILES section, with familiar 4-digit codes as subkeys. Now, grab your favorite resource editor (XN Resource Editor?) and open up the patch file you downloaded from Adobe. What we don't see in this directory, however, is the typical "RTP" patch file(s) used by this application. For the 7.0.1 patch, you will find four files, one of them is an executable, patch.exe, which identifies itself as RTPatch 6.0 (a rather old version).įrom this, we can see that Adobe is using RTPatch to patch their application. You can verify this by running one of the patchers, but not clicking "OK" in the confirmation dialog. You'll find that these are simply wrappers for a patching system called RTPatch created by PocketSoft. You'll find that these patches appear to be installshield installers by the icon, however that is just a guise. I have found no way to get around this dialog, there are no parameters that I can find that will cause it to not appear, thus the patches can't be deployed with the application.or can they?
What you will find, however, is that these patches apply completely silently, with the exception that they display a completion dialog at the end. When run, the patchers will check for the version of the application they are supposed to patch, so they must be run sequentially.

Now, download the 7.0.1, 7.0.2, and 7.0.5 patches for Presenter from Adobe's support website. You can deploy this as-is, but none of the patches will be available in this install. This is not a first, and probably won't be the last.įirst off, create an administrative install point for the application. Adobe, in their infinite wizdom, has yet again decided to deviate from the norm when distributing patches for an application.
